Files vs. Medical Records
The Files tab and Medical Records tab serve different purposes:
| Feature | Files Tab | Medical Records Tab |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | General document storage | Vet bill tracking with AI parsing |
| Parsing | No automatic parsing | AI extracts services, costs, medications |
| Best for | Contracts, assessments, certificates | Vet receipts and invoices |
| Data extraction | Manual only | Automatic from uploaded bills |
Tip: Use the Medical Records tab specifically for vet bills to take advantage of AI parsing. Use the Files tab for all other documents.
Best Practices
- Categorize correctly - Use the right file type for easier searching
- Add descriptions - Note what the document contains and why it's important
- Upload early - Add intake documents right away
- Keep current - Upload new documents as you receive them
- Use clear filenames - Rename files before uploading if the original name is unclear
